Our English Labrador puppies are sold with AKC Limited Registration.
AKC Limited Registration means that the dog is registered with the AKC, but no litters by that dog are eligible to be registered. However, the dog is eligible to be entered in any number of AKC licensed or member events. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding and Agility. Registration papers will be provided when puppies are picked up and payments are received in full. Summer Rose puppies are family pets only and are not permitted to be bred.
We take steps to make sure our English Labradors are healthy before breeding so we can ensure we produce quality, healthy, beautiful puppies. Our Labs are certified clear or non-affected by disorders that can affect the Labrador breed. If we use a carrier of any genetic disorders, that carrier will always be bred to a clear and the litter will consist of puppies either of clears and/or carriers. Carriers will never be affected by any genetic disorders. It means they carry the gene and must always be bred to a dog who does not. The only exception to this is with Copper Toxicosis. The CT mutation is not a disease causing mutation but rather it is a risk factor for whether a dog is predisposed to CT. The ultimate culprit for CT is copper and that comes from the dog's diet and environment. Dogs with the ATP7B mutation are at greater risk for CT, but it does not mean they have it or will necessary develop the condition. They are simply at greater risk than a dog without the mutation.
We breed for health and quality and we will always make sure steps are taken for the best outcome from dogs with high qualities. Our dogs’ hips & elbows are x-rayed and submitted to OFA for preliminary certification (PRELIMS) consideration at one year old and for final certification at two years old. Additionally, our dogs’ eyes are checked by a board certified animal ophthalmologist for certification with the OFA Eye Registry.

We highly recommend waiting until your puppy is 2 years old before spaying or neutering. A puppy's growth plates gradually thin as the hormonal changes approaching puberty signal the growth plates to close. In Labradors, this closure normally completes between 18 to 24 months old. Until the growth plates close, they're soft and vulnerable to injury.
Please contact us for availability & pricing on our puppies.
We accept a $300 deposit to be placed on a list for a chocolate, black, yellow or fox red English Labrador puppy. Our puppy deposits are non refundable however, they are transferable to our next or future litter. Order of puppy selection is based on order of deposit received. Summer Rose Labradors reserves the right to first pick from each litter. Puppies go to their homes when they are 8 weeks old. Pre-scheduled pick up dates will be communicated after the puppies are born. Puppies are selected from pictures, videos, FaceTime and my observation of temperaments and personalities. If you are able to pick up your puppy during the assigned week in correct order, you may select your puppy in person during your pick up appointment. A boarding fee will apply for any puppies that need to be picked up after the pre-scheduled pick up dates. Boarding fees are $20 per day for the first 5 days then $35 per day after. Purchase balance and boarding fees are due in full at pick up. We do not ship our puppies. We do require our puppy transfer agreement to be signed upon pick up.
Visitor Policy
We allow visitors that have paid deposits with us to visit our home once the puppies are 8 weeks of age and have received their first vaccines. We never allow other animals on or around our property. If you bring another dog with you, we ask that you please leave them with someone in your vehicle while you pick up your puppy. The risk of outside diseases and viruses, especially Parvo, is very real and very scary. We take precautions to protect our puppies, dogs and future litters. Once Parvo is introduced into an environment it is extremely difficult to remove completely and stops all breeding for a minimum of a year. We hope you will respect and be understanding of our policy.
