Summer Rose Labradors - Availability & Pricing for Puppies
Thank you for your interest in our English Labrador puppies! Please contact us directly for availability and pricing.
Deposit Information:
- A non-refundable deposit of $400 is required to be placed on the list for one of our puppies (chocolate, black, yellow, or fox red). This deposit is transferable to a future litter if necessary.
- The order of puppy selection will be determined by the order in which deposits are received.
- Summer Rose Labradors and/or Southern Cross Service Dogs reserves the right to first pick from each litter.
- Puppies will be selected based on pictures, videos, FaceTime calls, and our observation of their temperaments and personalities.
- If you are able to pick up your puppy during the assigned week, you may choose your puppy in person during your scheduled pick-up appointment.
- Puppies will be ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age.
- Pre-scheduled pick-up dates will be communicated once the puppies are born.
- If a puppy needs to stay beyond the pre-scheduled pick-up date, a boarding fee will apply:
- $20 per day for the first 5 days
- $35 per day for any additional days
- All remaining balance (including boarding fees) is due in full at pick-up.

Additional Information:
- We do not ship our puppies. In-person pick-up is required or transport by an approved nanny.
- A puppy transfer agreement must be signed at the time of pick-up.

Summer Rose Labrador Puppies: AKC Limited Registration & Health Standards
We are proud to offer our beautiful English Labrador puppies with AKC Limited Registration. This means your puppy is registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC), but is not eligible to produce registered litters. However, the dog can participate in any AKC-sanctioned events, including obedience, tracking, field trials, hunting tests, herding, and agility competitions.
Important Health & Genetic Information:
At Summer Rose, our top priority is producing healthy, well-socialized puppies. Before breeding, we take extensive steps to ensure the health and well-being of both the parent dogs and their puppies. Our Labradors are tested and certified clear of common genetic disorders that can affect the breed. If a dog is a carrier of any inherited condition, we only breed it to a clear dog, ensuring the litter is either clear or carrier, never affected.
One notable exception is Copper Toxicosis (CT), a genetic mutation that can increase the risk of copper build-up in a dog's liver. However, the mutation itself does not cause the disease, and the risk of CT is primarily influenced by the dog’s diet and environment. Dogs with the ATP7B mutation may be at a higher risk, but they do not automatically develop CT.
Health Certifications:
- Hips & Elbows: All of our breeding dogs undergo x-rays for hip and elbow evaluations, which are submitted to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for preliminary certification at one year of age and final certification at two years of age.
- Eyes: Our dogs' eyes are regularly examined by a board-certified animal ophthalmologist and certified through the OFA Eye Registry.
Limited Breeding Rights:
Our puppies are sold as family pets only and are not permitted to be bred. We believe in responsible breeding practices and place great emphasis on the health and well-being of every puppy we raise.
Registration & Payment:
AKC Limited Registration papers will be provided once the puppies are picked up and payments are received in full.

Visitor Policy:
We welcome visitors who have paid deposits to see their puppies once they reach 8 weeks of age and have received their first round of vaccinations. For the safety and health of all our animals, we do not permit other pets on or around our property. If you need to bring another dog with you, please leave them securely in your vehicle while you pick up your puppy.
The risk of outside diseases, particularly Parvo, is a serious concern. Once introduced, Parvo is extremely difficult to eradicate and can affect all future litters, forcing us to halt breeding for a minimum of one year. We take every precaution to safeguard our puppies, adult dogs, and future litters, and we ask for your understanding and cooperation in following this policy.

Waiting until a puppy is 2 years old to spay or neuter allows their growth plates to fully close, which usually happens between 18 to 24 months. This helps prevent injury to the bones and joints, especially in larger breeds like Labradors, whose growth plates are more vulnerable before closing. Early spaying or neutering may interfere with this natural process, potentially leading to long-term orthopedic issues like hip dysplasia or ACL injuries.
